ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you passionate about empowering parents and carers? Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of families across regional communities? Gateway Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Parent Educator to join our supportive and dynamic team.

In this rewarding position, you will provide evidence-based parent education and support to parents and carers of children aged 0–18 years. Services are delivered across the Ovens Murray region (Victoria) and the Albury region (NSW) through various flexible formats, including:

  • Individual support via face-to-face, phone, or online sessions
  • Group-based programs for those who prefer peer learning experiences.

The focus of this role is to increase parental capacity and confidence, using an early intervention approach to improve outcomes for children, families, and communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based parent education programs
  • Provide individual support tailored to each family’s needs
  • Facilitate group sessions, promoting peer connection and shared learning
  • Build strong relationships with community partners and other service providers
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure services align with best-practice standards

Your exceptional communication skills, active listening, and sensitivity, combined with a person-centred approach, enable you to provide thoughtful guidance and advice on appropriate referral pathways. Discretion and sound judgment will be essential as you assess individual needs and recommend tailored support options.

A strong passion for childhood development and proven experience in delivering parent education workshops further equip you to succeed in this influential role. You will be committed to helping parents build their capacity and strengthen family relationships, promoting positive outcomes for children and their communities.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Ability to behave in accordance with the Gateway Health Values.
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Social Work, Allied Health, Teaching or equivalent field with experience in delivering group programs in a community service organisation.
  • Previous experience in delivery and facilitation of parent and/or relationship education programs such as but not limited to: Tuning into Kids and/or Teens, Positive Parenting Program (Triple P), Circle of Security, Bringing Up Great Kids or Engaging Adolescents, Parenting after Separation.
  • Expertise or interest in specialist areas such as Parenting Trans and Gender diverse Kids
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyse and disseminate information in relation to current parenting practices and evidence-based programs.

Community Health Centre (Stand Alone Services) Social and Community Service Employees Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022

Classification – Level 4 - $44.58 - $47.97 per hour + Superannuation
