Purpose of the role
The position sits in the core platform team responsible for maintaining and improving the fare-matching system. The work centres on SQL engineering and platform optimisation. Most activity involves writing and tuning complex SQL, supported by Python automation, to keep large-scale data processes running accurately and efficiently.

What you will be doing

• Investigating and resolving data anomalies and system issues
• Writing, debugging and refactoring SQL for accuracy and performance
• Using Python for automation, data checks and workflow support
• Analysing execution plans, indexing and query performance
• Taking ownership of tickets from investigation through to resolution
• Documenting logic and contributing to platform reliability

Requirements

• 12-18 months commercial software or data-engineering experience
• Strong SQL skills (optimisation, debugging, performance tuning)
• Python scripting for automation or data processing
• Understanding of algorithms, data structures and efficient coding
• Clear, confident communication and curiosity to learn domain detail
• Self-starter comfortable in an unstructured, high-ownership environment
