About the Role
Based in Brisbane, this hands-on role is ideal for a proactive, results-driven Business Development Manager who enjoys variety and autonomy. Covering a territory from Northern NSW to West Metro Brisbane, you will spend approximately 70% of your time on sales activities, including cold calling, client visits, and relationship building and 30% on merchandising, ensuring product visibility and presentation. You’ll focus on developing new business opportunities, managing existing client relationships, and increasing market presence, particularly within the Independent Retail sector.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
Conduct cold calls and face-to-face visits to hardware, plumbing, retail, and trade clients.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
Achieve sales targets and contribute to overall business growth.
Merchandise products in-store, ensuring optimal presentation and stock levels.
Complete relays and merchandising as required.
Provide feedback on market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs.
Prepare and deliver sales reports, forecasts, and budgets.
Collaborate closely with a small team, sharing insights and supporting team goals.
Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and client meetings as required.
Interstate travel may be required.
About You
Minimum 3 years’ proven background in sales, with strong business-to-business selling experience.
Experience in hardware, plumbing, retail, or trade sales is essential.
You have strong time management skills.
Comfortable with cold calling and hands-on sales activities.
Strong merchandising skills and attention to product presentation.
Self-motivated, budget and results driven, with a proactive approach.
Able to work autonomously and as part of a small, supportive team (team of 3).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Strong presentation and reporting skills.
Willingness to travel regularly across the assigned territory.
Current driver’s licence.
Experience dealing with architectural, building, or rural hardware is highly advantageous.
