Position Purpose

The Area Manager will oversee all day-to-day operations of the assigned region with a strong focus on service delivery, client satisfaction, team leadership, and accountability in commercial cleaning services. This is a hands-on role requiring active involvement in site operations, staff supervision, and client relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

Create a work environment that promotes teamwork, safety, and recognition.

Ensure the delivery of consistent, high-quality cleaning services to all clients.

Adopt a hands-on approach in managing operations, regularly attending sites to monitor standards and support teams.

Manage and lead the efficient and effective running of cleaning operations across multiple sites.

Lead, develop, and motivate cleaning supervisors and frontline staff.

Oversee performance management and staff training.

Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations.

Maintain strong focus on Work Health & Safety responsibilities across all sites.

Handle escalated client queries, service issues, and complaints.

Monitor and manage supplies, equipment, and resources to ensure availability and quality.

Assist in preparing costings, pricing, and service proposals.

Ensure accurate and consistent record-keeping, including timesheets and site reports.

Review and prepare operational reports for senior management.

Required Qualities

Ability to effectively manage, lead, and mentor teams across multiple sites.

Strong client service focus and ability to build relationships.

Hands-on management style with willingness to work alongside staff when needed.

Experience managing day-to-day operational requirements in commercial cleaning.

Ability to prepare and analyse reports and KPIs.

Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office/Excel, with understanding of workforce management systems.

Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Flexibility to work varied hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required.

Qualifications

Proven experience as an Area Manager or Operations Manager in commercial cleaning or facilities services.

Strong understanding of cleaning operations, procedures, and industry best practices.

Proficient in MS Office and relevant operational software.

Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

Strong problem-solving aptitude.

Experience

Relevant experience in a similar role within the commercial cleaning or facilities management industry.

3 to 5 years’ experience leading multi-site operations teams.

Demonstrated experience in a hands-on supervisory or operational role.
