As an Accounts Payable Officer within a government agency, you'll manage payment processes and maintain accurate financial records-ensuring smooth financial operations.

Client Details

This opportunity is with a medium-sized organisation with a government body, recognised for its contribution to national projects and community services. The organisation values precision and accountability within its accounting and finance team. This is a standalone role requiring strong Accounts Payable experience.

Description

  • Process and review invoices for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain and update vendor records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor and manage payment schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare financial reports and support month-end closing activities.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to address payment-related queries.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant public sector regulations and guidelines.
  • Assist in the implementation of process improvements within the accounts payable function.

Profile

A successful Accounts Payable Officer should have:

  • A qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in accounts payable processes within the public sector.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial records.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with vendors and internal teams.
  • Problem-solving skills to resolve payment and reconciliation issues efficiently.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.
