Lead Software Engineer – Backend

Location: Sydney CBD (Hybrid)

Salary: $170k–$200k + Super

We are partnering with a fast-growing financial services organisation that is building secure, scalable, cloud-native platforms to improve how customers access financial products. They are seeking a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to drive backend development and lead technical strategy.

This role combines technical depth with leadership, giving you the opportunity to shape architecture, mentor engineers, and deliver reliable solutions in a regulated industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and evolve backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Define and oversee service architecture, from data flows to orchestration.
• Implement infrastructure as code with tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Work on cross-team projects that enhance reliability, security, and performance.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of engineering experience, including experience in a leadership role.
• Advanced skills in backend development with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong track record with Kubernetes and container-based platforms.
• Experienced in running systems on cloud environments like GCP or AWS.
• Excellent communicator who can collaborate effectively in a hybrid setup.
