Camden Council are looking for a Senior Environmental Health Officer to join our Environment Health team. We take pride in protecting and enhancing public health and the environmental systems of Camden LGA. Working independently, but supporting a team, you will keep our customers and the health of the community at the forefront to ensure public and environmental health is protected.

Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental health, applied science, or a related discipline, coupled with substantial experience in environmental health, monitoring, and regulatory functions at a senior level.
- Demonstrated expertise in reviewing and critically assessing complex development proposals and technical reports, providing authoritative recommendations, and making high-level decisions on environmental and public health risks across air, noise, water, land, and human health domains.
- Proven ability to exercise sound professional judgment in complex and high-risk situations, interpreting legislation and data to inform decisions, and ensuring effective implementation through leadership and collaboration.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying, and enforcing relevant environmental and public health legislation, including the Local Government Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Food Act and Public Health Act and associated SEPPs.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills, with a track record of managing competing priorities, resolving conflict, and contributing to organisational improvement in a regulatory environment.
- Current Class C driver's licence
Desirable:
- An advanced understanding and knowledge of environment and health issues in local government
- Experience in inspection and regulation of on-site sewage management systems and illegal dumping investigation.
