The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity to work and learn with QBuild, the designated builder for the Queensland Government. We provide a wide range of services, from constructing new buildings to upgrading and renovating existing ones. We also assist in rapid responses to disasters and hazards to safeguard Queenslanders. What We Look For:
- Be 15 years of age at commencement. Candidates 18 or turning 18 are preferred due to occasional overnight travel for our distant work program, unless you are a school-based apprentice not required to travel until full-time.
- Be eligible to work in Australia (permanent residency).
- Have completed Year 10 with a pass in Maths and English.
- Be able to transport yourself and your tools to work/training sites (a driver's license is not mandatory).
- Be willing to obtain a Construction Industry White Card before starting.

The Department of Housing and Public Works delivers a range of housing, building and procurement services.
We work to ensure that our most in need Queenslanders have access to housing and homelessness assistance. This assistance is provided through government-owned and managed social housing, and grant funding to registered providers. We also help thousands of low income earners to enter and remain in the private rental market.
Another key focus for the department is to provide policy, advice and delivery of services to government agencies in the areas of construction, asset and facilities management, procurement and fleet management.
