Working for a major NSW Government Department, The Senior Manager role drives and leads people initiatives and ensures the management of human resources across the allocated directorate is effectively linked to deliver strategic and business plans and organisational objectives.
The role works constructively with the business to develop a highly engaged and productive workforce through successful workforce planning, leadership and capability development and sound and appropriate workforce behaviour and management standards. The role works in a collaborative way across the organisation to collate, analyse, develop, implement and review HR information, policies, programs and strategies to best met the requirements of the organisation of today and the future.
Responsibilities:
- Operate as a operational advisor and strategic partner to senior business leaders and leadership team within allocated Business Unit to ensure alignment of people activities to specific priorities, and integration of business planning and strategy with cost effective HR planning and performance planning and review
- Provide high level, expert advice and support of ongoing business requirements and implementation of people initiatives and projects.
- Lead the provision of a range of specialist activities in areas such as Industrial Relations, Business Process Improvement Remuneration and Job Evaluations to ensure consistency across the business.
- Work closely with corporate and local Workplace Relations experts to ensure compliance, risk mitigation plans are implemented and effective management of employee relations issues and grievances in the workplace
- Coach and mentor members of the senior leadership team and develop strategies to ensure capability to motivate and develop staff, to drive engagement and retention initiatives and to contribute to an ongoing reform process
- Be an active member of the relevant Leadership Teams, contributing to the strategic and operational direction of the organisation and participate in HR projects to ensure quality services and process improvement
Skills and experience required:
- Demonstrated skill and experience in a senior HR business partnering role, particularly in a government context.
- Experience across organisational and operating model change as well as case management.
- Experience advising, coaching and partnering with leaders with ED and Directors, liaise with employees in relation to re-org matters.
- Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities, including the ability to lead, influence, promote and motivate highly skilled staff to deliver desired outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior HR professional to join a high performing and busy team. You will bring your HR expertise in the Government sector, working across Org Design, working in a Business partnering role and coming with experience across company wide workforce re-orgs and operating model changes. This is a senior level role managing a small HR BP team.
