About the Role
The primary objective of this part-time (0.8 FTE) position is to manage and grow the Club’s commercial partnerships, actively secure new partnership opportunities, and strengthen community connections. This role also supports race day sales and contributes to the effective day-to-day operations of the Bendigo Jockey Club. The incumbent will undertake key responsibilities in a professional and efficient manner and contribute to the BJCs purpose “to provide a quality racing and entertainment experience that benefits our community”.
The Commercial Partnerships Manager will oversee the delivery of the following tasks in accordance with relevant policies and procedures and at the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO):
Commercial Partnerships
Responsible for managing existing commercial partner agreements & relationships.
Develop and implement a prospectus for potential partners.
Facilitate Business-to-Business opportunities where appropriate.
Create a strategic plan to target race day hospitality together with identified non-race day opportunities (eg. conferences, expos).
Develop and manage an assets plan targeting unsold opportunities – races, signage, buildings.
Develop an annual partnerships communications plan.
Community Engagement
Build and maintain positive relationships with local community groups, clubs, charities, and stakeholders to strengthen the Club’s community presence.
Identify and develop partnership opportunities that deliver mutual community benefit and align with the Club’s values and purpose.
Support and promote community initiatives, charity partnerships, and local engagement programs.
Collaborate with internal teams to integrate community-focused activities into race days and non-race day events.
Service Delivery
Delivering a high level of customer service and delivery to our partners including all entitlements.
Knowledge of BJC activities, functions, events, and promotions, providing accurate information to all patrons, including partners.
Drive race day package sales through existing and new customers and collaborating with marketing to ensure market exposure.
Assist with other administrative and operational duties as directed by the CEO or as the business requires.
Race Day Duties
Prepare sponsor pages for the race book and allocate race names accordingly in the lead-up to each race day.
Liaise with all internal staff to support the facilitation of race day and non-race day operations, functions, activities, and promotions.
Leverage opportunities to engage with partners, members, and patrons in a social capacity on race days, fostering stronger relationships and enhancing collaboration.
Administration and Reporting
Provide the CEO with a monthly report detailing current sales figures compared to budget, a list of current sponsors and partners, and a forecast for the remainder of the year.
Provide the CEO with monthly partnerships report reflecting visits, communications, new leads, etc.
Support internal liaisons with accounts payable/receivable, including coding of invoices for CEO approval.
Closely manage expenditure as set out in the budget.
Prompt follow up of enquiries and proposals.
Business Review and Development
In conjunction with the CEO:
Undertake performance reviews including a review of relevant budgets against the annual budget.
Identify alternative business opportunities to enhance and develop the BJCs business and/or services to members/stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to drive sales while fostering strong, long-term relationships with stakeholders and partners.
Sound business, financial and customer service skills, and experience.
Strong organisational and planning skills.
Exceptional written, verbal communication and persuasion skills.
Ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple tasks and projects.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant digital systems and software.
Proficient in driving process changes to streamline operations.
