About the role

Yarra Ranges provides a unique opportunity to work in a landscape of natural beauty, rich in culture and heritage. Hosting communities as diverse as our teams, with expert Maternal and Health Nurses working across 14 centres. We are passionately delivering key age and stages appointments to over 10,000 families with young children aged 0-6.

As a casual MCH Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering primary health care, health promotion, parenting information, early identification of health concerns, and early intervention and referral to appropriate medical, allied health, community, and social supports. Using a strength-based, family partnership model, you will work closely with families to support and strengthen their health and wellbeing.

This is a casual position with an hourly rate from $70.13 per hour including casual loading, plus higher qualifications allowance, laundry allowance and superannuation.

What you’ll bring to our team

You will have a strong understanding of child development and the health needs of young children, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a commitment to providing high-quality, family centred care across our multiple MCH locations as required.

You will also possess:

Current Registration as Nurse (Division 1) and Midwife on the Register of Practitioners of AHPRA.

Post Graduate Diploma or Degree in Child & Family Health Nursing enabling practice as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse in Victoria.

Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.

Ability to work professionally and respectively with families from diverse backgrounds, as well as agencies and health care providers.

Knowledge and skills relevant to the provision of the Victorian Local Government Maternal and Child Health service.

Experience in facilitating community education/health promotion programs for infants, young children and their families as per program standards.

Demonstrated understanding of Child Information Sharing Schemes and Family Violence Information Sharing Schemes, MARAM and Child Safe Standards.

Skills in MS Office Suite and Child Development Information Systems (CDIS).

The flexibility to work across different locations, sometimes at short notice, is essential.
