The Assistant Store Supervisor works under the direction of the Store Supervisor and is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the City Mission Op Shop in Howrah.
The role involves contributing to store merchandising and presentation, pricing, stock management and rotation, as well as assisting in the development of initiatives to drive sales growth.
About the role :
- Build honest, trusting relationships with staff, volunteers, customers, and donors
- Open and close the store, manage the till and EFTPOS, and complete end-of-day banking
- Maintain knowledge of floor inventory, rotate stock and assist customers in finding the best matches for their needs
- Follow direction from the Store Supervisor to price, order and display stock while ensuring stock is rotated regularly
- Undertake volunteer orientations, and update volunteer rosters and hours under the direction of the Store Supervisor
About you:
- Previous experience in a retail environment, preferably including second-hand retail
- Manual handling knowledge and ability to lift at least 10kg
- Strong communication skills with the ability to genuinely connect with your customers
- Previous supervision or team leader experience
- Understanding of second-hand/circular economy/ Op Shop industry practices
- Knowledge, experience and understanding of volunteer management (desirable)
