About the role/ Experience required:
Responsible to provide engineering support to allow the delivery and sustainment of network solutions being delivered by the project in support of Air Traffic Management capabilities. This role includes the development of detailed designs, the physical and logical deployments of network solutions, network testing and development of engineering artefacts to gain site design accreditation. As part of a team, the network engineer will provide ongoing support to changes and incidents across the network solutions deployed by the Project.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Develop and deliver Site Specific Designs (SSD) and Technical Implementation Instructions (TII);
- Assist with equipment staging and initial configuration;
- Deploy active ICT equipment including rack/stack and configuration;
- Develop documentation and conduct Physical Configuration Audits (PCA);
- Conduct Functional Configuration Audits (FCA);
- Maintain configuration management of design artefacts;
- Provide technical support to the AIR5431 testing program;
- Provide accurate and timely review of technical documentation;
- Develop Engineering artefacts as directed by the Engineering Manager;
- Maintain technical expertise for both data and voice network capabilities; and
- Provide operational support to deployed project networks.
The successful candidate has experience with:
- Solid understanding of the Defence Terrestrial Communications Networking environment;
- Security minded approach to design concepts;
- Solid understanding of the Information Security Manual (ISM);
- Recent experience with the Defence Change Process;
- Wide Area Network (WAN) knowledge and LAN/WAN integration expertise;
- Ability to work in a team environment, with active participation in project meetings and engage with both internal and external stakeholders;
- Effective planner with efficient time management skills;
- Strong customer focus;
- Ability to conduct research, as well as rapidly learn new concepts and tasks, with a view of improving technical knowledge and skills; and
- Above average troubleshooting skills.
Education and Experience:
- 3 years minimum network experience;
- Technical experience with Cisco and Juniper Routers/Switches;
- Candidates with significant Defence experience will be held in high regard; and
- CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP or JNCIE level skills. Certifications will be highly regarded but are not essential.
Location: This role is based in Canberra ACT
Contract terms: 12 month contract with extensions
Security Requirements: Candidates require Australian citizenship along with an active NV1 clearance. Candidates will need to be willing to undergo pre-employment checks which may include, ID and work rights, security clearance verification, and any other client requested checks.
