Kummara Limited is an Indigenous organisation proudly serving the South East community since 1999. Kummara provides family support and assistance in the field of child protection to support the long-term wellbeing and resilience of all children and families.
We work in partnership with families and stakeholders to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities.
Due to recent growth, we have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Family Wellbeing team.
About the Role
The Family Wellbeing Practitioner works in partnership with families to support them in identifying and overcoming their challenges. This outreach role places the child at the center of family support and the Family Wellbeing Practitioner will utilise their skills and knowledge to identify family strengths and needs through a collaborative assessment process.
Support is culturally sensitive, and the Family Wellbeing Practitioner will provide competent practice and resources to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families.
This position will work in partnership with community, other agencies, and professionals to ensure family needs are met.
The office base is Chandler, servicing the Brisbane and Brisbane South-West region.
Duties
Maintain a case load of client families and deliver individual case work, groups and community projects
Identify family needs using specified tools and undertake screening and assessment of risks and needs of children and young people
Provide information, advice, referral and linkage to relevant services, as appropriate to the assessed level of need.
Maintain positive relationships with government, NGO and community organisations to ensure collaboration with other agencies to ensure integrated approaches.
Maintain accurate records, report writing and data entry requirements in line with professional standards.
Meet individual case performance targets
Take part in regular group supervision, one on one supervision and case reviews
About You

To be successful in this role you will possess
Relevant qualifications, e.g. bachelor's degree in human services, social work, psychology. At minimum a Certificate 4 or Diploma in youth, family or community services with significant experience in this field of work
Demonstrated understanding of the factors that contribute to intergenerational trauma and the challenges faced by families, with the ability to respond with empathy and insight
Have awareness of the risks inherent to working with families and ability to assess and respond to these risk
Demonstrated intermediate ability to use computer IT systems including MS Word and Excel.
High level of written and verbal communication skills; you will be confident when documenting case notes and competent in using database systems
Mandatory
Positive Notice, Working with Children Suitability (Blue Card).
Current valid Queensland drivers' licence.
