About the opportunity

NSW Health Pathology are seeking a temporary full-time Phlebotomist to work with our blood collection team. The position is primarily based at the Casino & District Memorial Hospital, but you may also be required to work across multiple sites including Ballina and Lismore.

Blood collectors are the heart of any Pathology Laboratory and by joining our dynamic team, you will be working in one of the largest regional laboratories in the state, servicing the Northern Rivers Community.

Working closely with our Pre-Analytical Team, you will also have the opportunity to learn data entry and other key skills, to assist in the processing of specimens in preparation for the laboratory departments to complete their testing.

The region of Lismore and the Richmond Valley on the far North Coast of NSW offers something for everyone - from nature lovers to foodies. Lismore is only a short drive to Byron Bay, Lennox Head and Ballina to the east and the funky village of Nimbin to the west. The local area has everything from magnificent national parks, waterfalls and rainforest walks to some of the most beautiful beaches on the east coast of Australia. So, if you’re looking for a lifestyle, sea or tree change this could be the job for you.

What we can offer you

  • This position is eligible for a Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme allowance of up to $5,000 plus super per annum in addition to award entitlements
  • Accrued Days Off in addition to Annual Leave
  • Generous salary packaging options and other fringe benefits
  • Corporate wellbeing programs, including the Fitness Passport
  • Learning and development opportunities, including in-house training with RTO My Health Learning

What you'll be doing

You will be required to perform essential blood collections services in a range of outpatient settings, community clinics, home collections and throughout the wards of the hospital. You will also be involved in a range of laboratory support and specimen reception activities, to deliver a truly patient focused service.
