The Role
As an ASD EL2 Program Director, you will lead an integrated team and manage staff planning, reporting, training and deliverables. You will be responsible for the compartment security program, proactively helping stakeholders across the country to understand their obligations in policy and ensuring appropriate enforcement when the policy is not followed.
Key Duties:
- The Program Director is responsible for the overall coordination of the compartment security program across Government and private stakeholders.
- The role leads policy development for compartment security, working with a broad range of stakeholders to proactively identify and implement improvements in existing policy.
- The role informs government and ASD’s position on requirements for securely handling compartmented information.
- The role leads training, education material and business processes to ensure stakeholders have the understanding and tools to adhere to policy.
- The role will implement business process improvement to identify and reduce inefficient processes and streamline program management.
- The role contributes to planning, finance, procurement, contractual and operational requirements of the Information Security Branch.
- The role is responsible for ensuring stakeholder compliance with policy and responding when non-compliance is identified.
- The role manages a team in the delivery of these responsibilities and must ensure staff planning, reporting, training and performance activities are undertaken.

About our Team
We are seeking an energetic, highly organized and people-orientated ASD EL2 Program Director accountable to lead a complex program of security policy training and enforcement to achieve outcomes across the nation.
Our team drives the management maturity and operation of compartment security policy, including training of security officers and enforcement of policy across a wide range of external stakeholders. The team is comprised of members with diverse skills and disciplines who work together to deliver positive outcomes for the Australian Government.
The role is expected to inform and drive ASD’s policy requirements to protect our mission while enabling government decision-making in compliance with legislative frameworks.

- Ability to mentor and support junior staff, in order to build a stronger understanding of the policies, processes and procedures.
- Ability to provide strategic advice to senior management and stakeholders as well as leading and assuming accountability for projects or programs that have strategic or operational significance.
- Accountable under routine direction to perform and achieve key priorities within tight timeframes.
- Accountable for organising their workflow, making decisions within their defined parameters relating to areas of responsibility and will seek guidance when required.
- Demonstrated experience in management of projects and an understanding of agile processes and methodologies to achieve improvement.
