Your future is Energy Queensland

Every time a light turns on or new energy solutions are created, it's because of us. At Energy Queensland, we're making big changes to power up Queensland’s future, and we need people like you to help make it happen.

Energy Queensland and our brands: Energex, Ergon Energy Network, Ergon Retail, and Yurika - are leading the charge in delivering reliable power to over 2 million customers across Queensland and beyond.

You’ll be part of a team that keeps Queensland connected and powers communities every day. With us, you’ll gain the skills and opportunities to build a future you're proud of.

Your opportunity

As a Power Worker, based in Bundaberg, you’ll be a key contributor to the team, assisting our tradespersons with the construction, maintenance and repair of our overhead, high and low voltage electrical distribution systems, street lighting mains and customer service lines.

What’s unique to this position?

Whilst you’ll be based in Bundaberg, most of the work is completed in other regions, so regular travel throughout Southern Queensland is required to ensure the delivery of our Program of Work. To support this, you’ll be rostered to work 14-day roster block aggregated working arrangement.

What does this mean?

You’ll be rostered to work nine (9) consecutive days away from home, including Saturday and Sunday with each work day being ten (10) hours. On completion of these days away, you’ll return home and enjoy five (5) of well-earned R&R.

As acknowledgement of this roster arrangement, you’ll receive a loading of 37% for all identified hours worked within the mutually agreed roster block, receive additional annual leave days and an allowance of up to $3,000 towards gym passes, fitness classes and other health related services to support you with maintaining your overall health and wellbeing whilst working away from home.

Here’s how you’ll do it:

  • Assist with the construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of our overhead electrical distribution systems, street lighting mains and customer service lines.
  • Perform a range of hands-on duties including general trades assistance and operation of equipment such as EWPs and forklifts.

What’s on offer?

At Energy Queensland, we believe in supporting every aspect of your career and personal life. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Feel safe and supported: A safety-first culture and access to our 24/7 Employee Assistance Program.
  • Invest in your future: Secure employment, strong superannuation with a fund of your choice and comprehensive income protection to ensure your financial security.
  • Get paid to play: Annual leave loading and salary sacrificing means more spending money in your pocket.

What you'll bring:

  • A current Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver’s Licence (essential).
  • The ability to follow directions, work unsupervised and appreciate the physical requirements of carrying out manual work in diverse conditions with the willingness to learn.
  • An open mind to a new age safety culture and willingness to take ownership and be professional.

We’d also love you to have:

  • Current High Risk Work Licence for Forklift, EWP >11m, VLC, Dogging, Basic Rigging (desirable).
  • Current C2 Slewing Crane High Risk Work Licence (desirable).
  • Well-developed interpersonal communication skills to develop good working relationships with team members and external customers. You must have the ability to identify and understand customer needs.

What matters most? For us, it’s our values:
We’re Safe – We Belong – We Grow – We Deliver
If you’re going to a part of our team, these should matter to you too.
