We’re looking for a talented and driven AI Application Developer / AI Engineer to join our expanding innovation team and help deliver smart, scalable, AI-powered learning solutions.

About the Role

As an AI Engineer at Cell Media, you’ll be working at the forefront of applied AI, combining technical depth with creativity. You’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team of subject matter experts, instructional designers, and developers to build tools and features that push the boundaries of content automation and intelligent learning.

This is a hands-on role, suited to someone who enjoys building, experimenting, and deploying real-world AI solutions.

What You'll Do

Build backend systems using Python for scalable and modular AI solutions

Integrate and optimise Large Language Models (LLMs) like OpenAI or Claude for practical learning applications

Deploy solutions to cloud environments (AWS or GCP), using modern DevOps and CI/CD workflows

Develop lightweight web applications and interfaces for internal and client-facing use

Design tools that extract, transform, and process structured and unstructured data (PDFs, slides, and more)

Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create intelligent, user-friendly experiences

Maintain version control using Bitbucket and apply best practices for testing and debugging

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves:

6+ years of software development experience, with 5+ years using Python

Solid experience deploying AI/ML models or APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, etc.)

Experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS) and containerisation workflows

Skilled in REST APIs, microservices, and backend architecture

Working knowledge of Python web frameworks (e.g., Flask, FastAPI, Django Lite)

Strong attention to quality and ability to debug and test complex systems

Bonus Points For:

Exposure to front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AJAX)

CI/CD tools and deployment automation

Understanding of semantic search, vector-based retrieval, embeddings

Familiarity with text-to-audio, image generation, or visual AI tools

Experience in eLearning, education tech, or content automation
