The Yarram and District Health Service (YDHS) is based in Yarram, 220 kilometers south east of Melbourne on the South Gippsland Highway in rural Victoria. Yarram is 73 kilometers south west of Sale and 62 kilometers south east of Traralgon.

We provide our community with acute inpatient services, dialysis, urgent care, aged care, respite care, primary health, community services and an integrated healthcare centre. Our consumers and community are at the core of every decision we make.

What’s on offer

The Security Officer is responsible for the provision of a high-quality security service to provide patients, visitors, staff and hospital departments with an environment which affords individual physical safety, the safeguarding of hospital property and emergency response.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will need:

· Strong Communication & People Skills:

Ability to provide clear and respectful guidance while engaging with individuals in various situations, ensuring a calm and supportive approach to conflict resolution and de-escalation.

· Thoughtful Decision-Making:

Capable of assessing situations with care, responding appropriately to ensure a safe and secure environment for all including assisting with people who may have fallen or are having difficulties in the facility.

· Attention to Detail & Accountability:

Skilled in observation, documenting and reporting any issues or incidents that may arise onsite. Having an eye for detail is important when reporting events.

· Supportive Crowd Management: Experience in directing people effectively during emergencies or other important moments, helping maintain order while prioritizing the comfort and safety of those involved.

· Current or Willing to Attain a VIC Security Licence.

Before commencement, the successful applicant will: provide an Original National Police Record Check – no older than twelve (12) months, an Employee Working with Children Check and complete a Pre-existing injury declaration form. All successful applicants will need to be willing to apply for or provide evidence of a NDIS Workers Screening Check.
