About MD Group

MD Group is a national operating ISO accredited construction company delivering projects across the commercial, civil, and mining sectors. With over 120 employees and our own joinery division (Melwood), we build and fit out spaces across health, education, retail, hospitality, office, and infrastructure sectors.

With multiple projects set to commence, we are looking for an experienced Carpentry Supervisor with high level knowledge and experience of light weight wall and ceiling systems (including plaster and flushing) to lead a small team across fast-paced FIFO fit out projects. This role is roster based, and ideally suited to an on the tools supervisor with a strong commercial plastering background.

Your Role

You’ll be the go-to person on site, running day-to-day operations while working alongside your small team. You’ll lead by example on the tools — ensuring safety, quality, and schedule are all met, and the project is delivered to MD Group’s standards.

You’ll report to an operations manager and work closely with our internal management team and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and lead a small team of carpenters on-site

Take the lead on plaster sheeting, grid ceilings, and partition installs

Manage daily workflow and materials to stay on program

Read and work from construction drawings and scopes

Always uphold site safety and compliance to the highest standard

Liaise with MD Group management and client site teams

Keep quality high and solve site issues proactively

Maintain a clean, efficient, and productive site

Qualifications and Experience / About You

Proven track record of working as a working supervisor or leading hand for 3+ years – verified references required

Strong background in ceiling fixing, partition wall and plaster installation

Ability to lead and motivate a small team while still working hands-on

Experience in commercial fit outs (e.g. retail, medical, office, hospitality)

Solid understanding of construction methods and sequencing

Able to pass a pre-employment medical and LAB Drug & Alcohol testing

National Police Clearance or ability to obtain

Driving License and White Card

Adaptable to changing swing patterns, work locations and extended hours

Previous Tier 1 experience desired but not essential
