As a Senior Freedom of Information Officer, you'll support the Officer in Charge of the FOI Unit, processing FOI requests, assessing documents, and ensuring compliance with legislation. Your new role
In this position you will be exposed to sensitive and distressing material which may be triggering for some individuals. You will also:
Provide leadership and mentorship to FOI Unit staff.
Lead and oversee FOI applications in line with the Freedom of Information Act 1991.
Research, assess, and prepare high-quality documentation for FOI requests.
Evaluate and process FOI requests, sourcing, and vetting documentation.
Prepare draft determinations for review and publication.
Manage FOI-related policies.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, legal representatives, and the public.
Ensure compliance with Information Privacy Principles, State Records Act, and Libraries Act.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the role you will have:
Strong integrity and confidentiality handling complex information.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Proven ability to manage workloads under pressure and lead a team.
Sound understanding of FOI legislation, State Records Act, and privacy principles.
Experience in writing complex reports and making determinations.
Leadership in mentoring and developing staff.
Completed SA State Records FOI Course (Accredited FOI Officer) - desirable.
Essential requirements:
Be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident at the time of applying and will be subject to a criminal history check.

Salary
ASO6 - $98,478 - $104,165 per annum.
