Footsteps Community Services (FCS) is a family-owned and operated organisation. We are recruiting for passionate Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) practitioners to support our clients and the families we work with throughout their NDIS PBS Plan.

Behaviour Support Practitioners play a vital role in assisting people with special behavioural or emotional needs. They use their expertise in mental health, counselling, social work, teaching, occupational therapy and social development to implement new behavioural treatment strategies to improve clients' wellbeing.

Summary of the Position:
The Behaviour Support Practitioner (BSP) is responsible for the provision of high quality, professional and culturally appropriate behaviour support planning services, and delivery for people with disability, aging Australians and/or significantly disadvantaged individuals.
The practitioner is required to design and deliver appropriate interventions and plans, monitoring, updating and evaluating these in line with the NDIS plan and/or individual goals, including monitoring progress and evaluating outcomes. The practitioner will work collaboratively with other agencies/providers in the delivery of services in a collaborative manner
A day in this role may include:
• Advocate for your clients, ensuring their human rights are always upheld.
• Create individualised behaviour plans that are holistic, and client-focused.
• Provide support and education to clients/carers/family.
• Delivering training to teams.
• Case management.
• Conduct assessments with clients at the beginning and completion of the plan.
• Build and maintain effective relationships, including attending stakeholder meetings.
• Maintain accurate and timely recordings.
• Deliver professional reports as required to external bodies, such as NDIS, Child Safety…
Accountability:
The BSP reports directly to the Director of PBS.

• Ability to assess the needs of clients within a holistic framework.
• Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
• Effective communication and crisis intervention skills.
• Proven ability to engage people and positively influence individuals and outcomes.
• Develop and maintain professional networks.
• Implement service strategies and evaluate results.
• Computer literacy, including proficiency in electronic records and data management tools.
• Resilience and the ability to adapt and respond to work demands.
• Exceptional organisational skills and time management.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
• Communicate with individuals in a respectful and age-appropriate manner.
Key selection criteria:
Mandatory:
• Ability to meet the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support capability framework at a core level or above.
• Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Behaviour Science, Social Work, Counselling, or related discipline (Bachelor +).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Registration with a governing body as appropriate.
• Right to work in Australia.
• Hold or willing to obtain a Blue Card, NDIS worker Screening check, and a National Police Check.
• A valid and unrestricted QLD driver’s license.
• Access to a roadworthy vehicle.
• Be willing and suitable to undertake any NDIS registration requirements.
Appreciated:
• Previous work experience as a Behaviour Support Practitioner (ideal but not essential).
• Have a keen passion for neuroscientific approaches.
• Knowledge and understanding of the NDIS.
• An understanding of the biopsychosocial model.
• An understanding of practice behaviour support, evidence-based approaches, and trauma-informed practice is an advantage.
• Experience in support/youth work.
• Understanding of the Criminal Justice System.
• Integration and social inclusion principles in own practice.

Salary starts from $80,000 upwards, depending on experience and practitioner ID level (plus laptop, mobile phone, and salary sacrifice).
