The Opportunity:
Techforce are currently looking for an experienced Safety officer for a project starting in August. We require someone who is ideally Rio inducted and has experience in the rail side of things. You will drive safety from the front leading a small rail civil team. This position is a 2/1 roster joining a great team, 4 months work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Championing daily safety practices on site and ensuring compliance with operational requirements
• Designing and rolling out safety initiatives aligned with the unique needs of rail maintenance projects
• Preparing and maintaining essential documentation including safety plans, SWMS, and operational procedures
• Overseeing HSEQ compliance through robust document management and control systems
• Taking the lead on incident response, investigations, and risk mitigation strategies
• Supporting crews with regular inspections, audits, and onsite safety coaching
• Building strong working relationships with both onsite teams and external stakeholders to foster a positive safety culture
• Drawing on your experience in rail safety (ideally within WA) to proactively manage site safety standards

About You:
To be successful in this role, you’ll be a confident safety professional with a proactive attitude and the ability to engage effectively with site teams. Ideally, you will bring:

• Previous experience in a safety-focused role within rail or civil infrastructure projects (rail maintenance experience in WA highly regarded)
• Strong understanding of HSEQ systems, risk management, and incident investigation processes
• Current Rio Tinto Inductions (preferred) or the ability to obtain them
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and lead safety culture on site
• Solid knowledge of relevant WHS legislation, standards, and compliance requirements
• Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent)
• A collaborative mindset with the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team
• Valid driver’s licence and the ability to pass pre-employment medicals and drug/alcohol screening
