About the Role

This program is all about empowering people on their mental health journey. Through tailored one-on-one and group-based support, our Psychosocial Support Practitioner helps individuals build the confidence, skills, and resilience they need to reclaim their wellbeing. Using a toolkit of proven capacity-building strategies, they walk alongside participants as they navigate recovery—fostering connection, self-belief, and lasting change.

Key Responsibilities

Individual Interventions

• Provide tailored, short-term sessions (up to 10 weeks) using CBT and other modalities to address:
• Emotional regulation, grief and loss, and wellbeing
• Reducing isolation and building community connections
• Suicide prevention and safety planning
• Maintaining relationships, household stability, and financial wellbeing

Group Facilitation

• Deliver meaningful group programs that focus on:
• Conflict resolution and communication
• Relationship building and skill development
• Self-help strategies and DBT-informed techniques

General Duties

• Be a connector, educator, and advocate across the mental health landscape:
• Conduct intake assessments and collaboratively set recovery goals
• Facilitate warm referrals for those without a GP
• Support smooth service transitions within stepped-care models
• Partner with community and health services for wraparound care
• Promote mental health awareness and access across the region

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Currently registered with AHPRA; or
• Certificate IV in Mental Health (or similar Mental Health training); or
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Emotional Wellbeing Worker.
• Knowledge of local health and community service providers, with an understanding of referral pathways.
• Demonstrated awareness of mental health issues and their impact on individuals, families, and communities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability in interpersonal relations, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
• Ability to support and uphold the values, principles, and purposes of Lifeline Darling Downs & South West Qld Ltd (LDDSQWL).
• Current Queensland “C” class driver’s license
• Computer literacy – Intermediate level Microsoft Office, maintaining a data base, email and internet functions

Desirable:

• Experience working within stepped-care models or similar frameworks.
• Prior experience delivering group therapy or psychoeducation workshops.
• Familiarity with data management systems for client documentation.
