Our Government Client is responsible for improving the liveability and prosperity of NSW.

The role

The Senior Policy Advisor has extensive experience and is responsible for identifying and analysing issues as required and prepare and deliver draft policy advice to stakeholders. Additionally, they will develop plans for improved solutions and delivery of policies, processes, guidelines, tools and training.

Key accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

• Sound knowledge of, and experience in, the mechanisms of government.
• Extensive successful experience in leading the delivery of strategic initiatives or complex programs.
• Maintain effective and efficient administrative processes and systems for providing information that is timely and accurate.
• Undertake research, analysis and review of options to contribute to the policy process to inform decision making and contribute to the evaluation and reporting on policy outcomes.
• Liaise with key stakeholders on policy and project status and development.
• Prepare a range of project or policy related documents including briefs, reports, status updates and discussion papers.
• Assist with the development and implementation of OLG programs and/or policy initiatives.

The successful candidate will:

• Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent professional experience in a similar role
• Apply a high degree of critical analysis and creative reasoning skills in dealing with a range of complex issues whilst working in a high volume and often sensitive environment.
• Maintain current knowledge of contemporary trends and developments affecting the local government sector.
• Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with senior management and external stakeholders to deliver projects.
• Experience leading a project which tracks application process and submissions, giving reporting and managing process / experience working on a legislative review (Act Review) and supporting in that
• Strong verbal and written communications, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
