We are seeking an experienced and proactive Capital Accountant to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Department’s capital accounting policies, frameworks, and procedures. This critical role ensures alignment with best practices, departmental strategies, and external regulatory requirements.

Role and responsibilities

Lead research and analysis to assess complex issues and evolving requirements related to capital accounting under AASB 116, AASB 138, and policies.

Oversee the development of evidence-based strategies to address emerging issues and mitigate capital accounting risks.

Provide expert advice to stakeholders to guide and support capital accounting policy directions and compliance.

Manage the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of capital accounting policies, procedures, and controls in collaboration with Finance and other internal teams.

You

Strong knowledge of AASB 116, AASB 138, and NSW Treasury financial reporting requirements.

Proven experience in policy development, financial accounting, and risk management in a complex public sector or corporate environment.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and solution-focused mindset.

CA/CPA qualification or equivalent highly regarded.
