The Opportunity:
- Part-Time 0.4 EFT | Fixed-Term contract of employment until 07 July 2026
- TL $85,644 - $121,462 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience)
- Chadstone Campus – onsite parking with close proximity to public transport
The role focuses on delivering the Diploma of Dental Technology at Holmesglen’s Chadstone campus. You’ll support students in developing essential technical skills in areas such as crown and bridge construction, ceramic work, and cast metal partial frameworks. Experience with CAD/CAM technologies and digital workflows is also highly regarded
This is a hands-on and rewarding role where you’ll design and deliver engaging training, using a variety of innovative teaching and assessment methods tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. You'll also take the lead in developing learning resources and assessment tools that support excellence in delivery. By building strong connections with industry and key stakeholders, you'll ensure our programs remain relevant and impactful. Your collaborative approach and dedication to high-quality student support will also see you actively involved in course coordination and departmental initiatives that contribute to the success of both students and the wider faculty.
As a Teacher in Dental Technology, you will:
- Develop and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies and methodologies to meet and support the diverse needs of students, fostering an inclusive learning environment for all students including those of diverse cultures, backgrounds and abilities.
- Develop high quality teaching resources and assessment materials and teach in a range of agreed units, subjects and courses in a variety of learning modes and across a range of locations. Liaise as appropriate with industry and the community to develop and customise training appropriate to client requirements.
- Participate in the delivery of teaching and educational services to industry including workplace visits, assessment of training needs, development of training plans and the effective delivery of courses.
- Provide pre-course advice to students and participate in student selection, induction and marketing events such as Open Days, Information nights and Expos. Provide or arrange additional educational support for individual students as identified in the pre-training review and plan, implement and evaluate teaching and learning strategies to support student progress.
- Contribute to departmental evaluation and continuous improvement processes, participate in student administration procedures and undertake operational duties associated with course development, marketing and delivery.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - TAE 40122 or equivalent predecessor or successor qualifications.
- An approved degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant vocational area, or approved equivalent qualifications, at least to the level being delivered and assessed; and
- Current licences necessary to practice or registration and/or membership of a relevant industry association if applicable.
- Demonstrated ability to research and develop appropriate teaching materials, resources and methods of assessment based on the Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence, including the ability to adapt delivery and assessment to meet student needs.
- WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
Desirable skills and experience (preferable):
- Experience teaching or training in a VET or higher education setting
- Ability to deliver units involving Registration Rims and Impression Trays Construction, Complete Dentures and Crown and Bridge construction.
- Experience with CAD/CAM delivery and contemporary digital dental technologies, including digital workflows and 3D printing
