Your Role
Home Based Care provides efficient and effective case management practice, by providing informal and formal support to family and community who have Aboriginal Children living with them in Kinship Care and Home Based Care.
Home Based Caseworkers work with the families, and both internal and external stakeholders to establish, monitor and strengthen supports for the Kinship Care and Home Based Care placements. The Home Based Caseworker must ensure that each child's ongoing safety, stability and developmental needs are met while maintaining practice compliance with MDAS Policy and Procedures, the Victorian Child Safe Standards and the requirements of the funding agreements and associated program guidelines. Additionally Home Based Caseworkers are responsible for providing comprehensive assessments, including information and advice and direct case management support.
Key Selection Criteria
Experience in the case management of complex children, youth and families and knowledge of the Kinship Care, Kinship Reunification, Out of Home Care system, and Child Protection statutory requirements including Victorian Child Safe Standard. Demonstrated ability to advocate for client needs, influencing decisions in client’s best interests.
Ability to solve problems based on operational knowledge and experience, scanning for useful information, looking for underlying causes and suggesting alternative actions for clients and staff..
Ability to communicate, consult, liaise and negotiate with a broad range of people both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people at all levels to achieve broad project objectives and goals
Ability to take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services
Qualification/s:
Minimum qualification Diploma of Community Services or willing to obtain.
Other Screening Requirements:
Valid Drivers License that allows you to drive in Australia.
Victorian Employee Working with Children Check card.
National Police Check.
