This is a unique opportunity to lead an enthusiastic and passionate team, overseeing kitchen operations and menu development across both The Flying Apron Patisserie and Silva Coffee Roasters venues. As the Head Chef, you will spearhead the food and pastry operations with an emphasis on local and seasonal produce, not only supporting sustainability but also allowing for a dynamic menu that can evolve with the seasons. This role is perfect for a Head Chef who is eager to push creative boundaries while delivering exceptional quality.
The Flying Apron Patisserie is a beloved local gem in the Yarra Valley known for its delicious, heartwarming food since 2016. Now under new ownership by Silva Coffee Roasters we are bringing together our obsession for delicious coffee and gorgeous seasonal goodies, promising an exciting future for our customers and the community.
What You Bring To The Table:
Minimum 2-3 years experience managing a commercial kitchen
Experience creating a variety of high-quality pastries and baked goods
Creativity and a genuine passion for culinary innovation, with an eye for beautiful presentation and seasonal, local produce
Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and inspire a team
Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
Seasonal menu development
Experience with inventory, sourcing of ingredients, and purchasing to maintain cost-effective operations without compromising quality
Must have permanent right to work in Australia
Qualifications & Experience:
2+ years of proven experience as a Head Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen
Culinary degree or equivalent experience in pastry arts
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure
Food Safety Supervisor Certification
