Do you crave adventure? Feel the pull of the great outdoors? Join the Tasmanian Walking Company and become part of an eco-tourism family that’s been hitting the trails for more than three decades.
The Tasmanian Walking Company (TWC) have been walking for over 30 years, offering amazing wilderness experiences to our guests in some of Tasmania's most special and remote wilderness locations. We work to deliver a truly immersive experience as we create connections between people and place in remote cultural landscapes through our boutique multi-day walking experiences.
Whilst our roots lie in Tassie, we also operate on mainland Australia and are excited to be experiencing a growth phase in the business as we introduce a number of new walks.
At TWC we pride ourselves on having a culture that promotes sustainability, equal opportunities, accountability and continuous improvement, respect, integrity, and genuine fun (it’s even one of our values!) so that we can be leaders in our industry and are welcoming to individuals from all walks of life.
About the role:
We’re looking for a Team Leader who can take the reins of operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly while our guests embark on the adventure of a lifetime. As the Team Leader, you’ll be the key to delivering exceptional guest experiences, coordinating logistics, managing walk operations, overseeing safety procedures, and helping maintain the lodges and assets.
In addition to managing operations, this role includes lodge hosting responsibilities, such as preparing and cooking meals for guests. Strong cooking skills are essential, as you’ll play a key role in delivering memorable culinary experiences that enhance the overall lodge experience.
Based in Johanna, you will report to our Regional Experience Manager and work closely with the wider team to bring our walks to life.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Lead a team of guides and lodge hosts ensuring they are prepared and equipped for each trip
- Oversee logistics such as trip documentation, reporting, provisioning (including food ordering and stock management), asset upkeep (excellent condition and ready for use) and address maintenance issues by following established systems
- Undertake regular driving to ensure seamless trip delivery and support
- Oversee fleet logistics (organise servicing, routine maintenance, government inspections, making sure vehicles are compliant with commercial accreditation)
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, environmental policies and operational procedures
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and training for your team, including managing the induction process for new team members
- Act as the checking balance in the guest experience by collecting and reviewing feedback
- Build strong relationships with local communities
Why apply?
Whether you’re a solo adventurer or a couple looking for a unique experience, this is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in nature while making a meaningful impact on the experience we deliver to our guests.
For the right duo, one of you can embrace the Team Leader, while the other takes on Lodge Hosting duties (casual role with varying hours). Imagine sharing this experience together in one of Australia’s most stunning environments.
What you will bring:
We are looking for a passionate and collaborative Team Leader with strong leadership skills. Whether it’s guiding our team to success or solving problems, you will have the skills to lead with confidence and ensure operational excellence. In addition, you will have:
- Minimum of 2 years in a management or team leader role preferably in a tourism venture
- 2+ years hospitality experience and a passion for preparing and cooking delicious food
- Wilderness First Aid (SISSS00126)
- Provide CPR (HLTAID009)
- Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB021)
- Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety (SITXFSA005)
- Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices (SITXFS006)
What we can offer you:
- Onsite shared accommodation with private bedroom at beautiful Johanna beach
- Opportunities for ongoing training, social and professional development events.
- Program for access to discounted adventure gear.
- Opportunities to experience and guide across our other walks.
- Family & friend discounts across our walking products.
