Position Overview

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician who is passionate about turning cutting-edge research into real-world impact. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, supporting experimental preparation, laboratory upkeep, and sample analysis. Guided by experienced chemists, you will play a key role in maintaining our scientific excellence.

Position Responsibilities

Jupiter Ionics is fast growing, and your responsibilities will evolve accordingly. Your overarching goal as the Laboratory Technician is to support the Science team by helping them to prepare and characterize their experiments.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Analytical & Experimental Support:

• Operate and maintain a semi-automated ammonia analysis system

• Prepare and analyze electrolyte samples

• Set up, calibrate, and maintain analytical instrumentation

• Assist with experimental setup, disassembly, and sample tracking

Laboratory Operations:

• Manage inventory and ordering of chemicals, consumables, and gas cylinders

• Maintain gloveboxes and stock solutions

• Use laser cutter to fabricate and clean cell gaskets

• Support lab cleanliness and organization

Safety & Compliance:

• Manage laboratory waste and ensure proper disposal procedures

• Test and maintain safety equipment

• Adhere to all safety protocols and laboratory best practices

Skills, Capabilities & Experience

The ideal candidate is likely to have the following characteristics:

Prior experience in an analytical or wet lab environment

Familiarity with hazardous materials and working with pressurized equipment (<15 bar)

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Solid understanding of laboratory equipment and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to solve routine lab problems independently

Commitment to lab safety and efficient workflows

Collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team

Bachelor's or associate degree in science, Engineering, or related field

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work in a standing or seated position for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours.

The person in this position needs to often move about the laboratory and traverse other work areas in other buildings.

The ability to observe details at close range (within a meter of the observer).

Frequently position self to access and move items up to 20kg.

Occasionally moves items up to 25kg.

Constantly works within laboratory (and workshop) conditions where the noise level is usually moderate but may be loud at times.

Must wear appropriate PPE, which will be provided.
