ABOUT US
Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded by and is still led, governed, and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative, and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy, and support.
At its core, NPY Women’s Council is about family and community – walytja. Our purpose is to work with women, children, and their families of the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara, and Yankunytjatjara region in Central Australia. Our role is to work side-by-side and help increase their capacity to lead safe and healthy lives with improved life choices.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Child and Family Wellbeing Service is made up of three programs: Child Nutrition, Intensive Family Support, and Child Advocacy. The primary focus of the Child and Family Wellbeing Service (CFWS) is to deliver targeted, efficient, and effective community services within the NPY region, seeking the best possible outcomes for Anangu children and communities.
In the role of Advocacy & Kinship Case Manager, you will primarily work within the Walytjapiti and Child Advocacy programs.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The primary function of the Advocacy & Kinship Case Manager is to support kinship carers in the NPY Lands. Based remotely and providing holistic, intensive case management, you will offer placement stability support to both carers and the children in their care.
You will also work alongside Anangu families to identify and locate potential carers and support them through the SA Department of Child Protection’s (DCP) assessment process. Family scoping activities will be integral to the role and will include the use of genograms and other mapping tools.
ABOUT YOU
You will hold qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Community Services, or have relevant experience. You will have demonstrated case management or community development experience with families and children.
This is a unique opportunity to work for an organisation that takes a grassroots approach to community development. You will have the privilege of working closely alongside Anangu families and communities and experience an extraordinary landscape and part of the world.
You’ll receive a comprehensive orientation program as well as best-practice supervision and professional development, including training in vicarious trauma, case management, and four-wheel driving. We also provide critical incident debriefing and access to a range of counselling services to support you.
In addition, we offer:
Above award remuneration
Salary packaging benefits
Retention bonus
NPYWC accommodation
Use of a company vehicle while travelling
