Environmental Graduate – Field Assistant (Casual, Ad-Hoc Hours)

A leading mining company is looking for an Environmental Graduate to assist a zoologist on fieldwork in the beautiful Australian bush. This casual role, with ad-hoc hours, is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in environmental studies while working in a unique setting.
Role Overview:
As an Environmental Graduate, you will assist the zoologist with a variety of fieldwork tasks, including tracking wildlife, conducting surveys, and general environmental assessments. Your role is primarily for safety support in the field and to ensure that all activities are carried out safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the zoologist with fieldwork tasks such as wildlife monitoring, habitat assessments, and data collection.
- Support the team in maintaining safety protocols and procedures in remote environments.
- Walk long distances through the bush in various weather conditions.
- Assist with any field tasks as required, including some nightshift work depending on the schedule.
- Help with the preparation and packing of field equipment and supplies.
Skills & Qualifications:
- A recent Environmental Science or related degree (no prior field experience necessary).
- Field-hardy with a love for nature and outdoor work.
- Comfortable walking long distances through the bush and enduring various weather conditions.
- Ability to work flexibly with ad-hoc hours, including potential night shifts.
- Willingness to learn and assist in various tasks while working as part of a team.
- Enthusiasm for being in the forest and contributing to environmental conservation.
