What Will You Be Working On?
As a Gym Instructor, you’ll play a key role in creating an energetic, inclusive, and safe environment that inspires our members to achieve their fitness goals.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming members with a smile, promoting a sense of community, and providing personalised guidance to help them thrive in their fitness journeys.
- Conducting fitness assessments, tailoring workout plans to suit a variety of needs and fitness levels, and empowering members to succeed with ongoing check-ins every 6 to 8 weeks to track their progress.
- Planning and executing small group training sessions suitable for a variety of fitness levels.
- Supervising the gym floor, maintaining a safe environment, and responding promptly and professionally to any emergencies or first-aid situations.
- Sharing your passion for fitness by actively promoting our range of services, programs, and memberships to encourage a healthier lifestyle for all.
- Supporting member retention by engaging with clients through follow-ups and interactions.
- Maintaining the gym’s cleanliness, reporting equipment issues, and ensuring occupational health and safety standards are met.
- Participating in ongoing training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay ahead in the fitness industry.
Rostered shifts will range from 2 to 5 hours and include early mornings, late evenings, and weekends on a rotational basis. AFAC is a busy place so to ensure that you keep up to date with operations we require you to work a minimum of three shifts per week across our opening hours. Whether you’re an early riser or a night owl, there’s a place for you in our vibrant team.
What are we looking for:
- Certificate IV in Health and Fitness or equivalent qualifications.
- A current AUSactive Certificate and Provide First Aid Certificate.
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Experience supervising a gym, designing fitness programs, and delivering small group training sessions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a diverse and supportive team.
- Bonus points if you hold a ‘C’ Class Driver’s License!
We are a values-led organisation that believes in:
- Care
- Are Better, Together
- Learn & Grow
- Seize Today, Shape Tomorrow
Joining our team means embracing a culture of support, collaboration, and continuous improvement. We build resilience, act responsibly, and encourage sustainable decisions.
Other benefits include:
- Free membership to the Fitness and Aquatic Centre, including gym, pool, sauna, and group classes.
- Access to an Employee Assistance Program for personal and professional support.
