We have a fantastic opportunity for an Employee Wellness & Compliance Officer to join our team on a Part-time or full-time basis depending on skills and qualifications. Reporting to the Office Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing Canny’s Driver Health compliance as well as leading risk management strategies and interventions within the corporate business unit. This includes overseeing audits and implementing strategies to address emerging risks and trends, all while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for employees.
You will play a pivotal role within the Canny’s team, cultivating a proactive safety culture and building organizational capability by:
Ensuring Canny’s compliance with WHS Legislation, NHVR standards, and Regulatory Standards across Australia through the development and continuous improvement of our safety management policy framework. This includes adhering to the NHVR's Compliance and Enforcement Policy, which outlines the principles guiding compliance monitoring and enforcement activities
Providing technical advice, training, coaching, and guidance on workplace health and safety, injury management, driver well-being, and overall team well-being, including the interpretation of policy and legislation.
Facilitating an early intervention approach to injury management with the aim of minimizing the risk of injury or illness and improving the health and well-being of our team members and drivers. This includes day-to-day responsibility for all aspects of return-to-work case management, workers’ compensation claims management, fitness for duty, and the management of non-work-related injuries and illnesses.
Overseeing the management of incidents by implementing a clear investigation, response, and reporting framework.
Executing WHS and NHVR Audit Plans, managing risk registers and assessments, and coordinating WHS Committees. This involves ensuring compliance with NHVR accreditation modules such as Mass Management.
Defining and implementing best practice pre-employment screening across Canny’s business and managing the WHS and NHVR Onboarding Program.
Reviewing safety inspection notes/documentation monthly to ensure compliance.
Other key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Collaboration and Compliance: Working closely with key stakeholders to ensure the company meets all necessary safety and health regulations.
Audit Management: Overseeing both internal and external audits to ensure the company remains compliant with safety and wellbeing standards.
Consistency Across Business Units: Ensuring policies and practices are applied consistently across different business units, together with the wider team.
Reporting and Analytics: Handling reporting and data analytics to ensure compliance with self-insurance licensing requirements and legislation
Risk Management: Developing and implementing strategies to manage and mitigate risks, addressing emerging trends, and adjusting to business needs
What you'll bring:
Experience in a similar role within the Transport Industry (desirable).
Sound technical knowledge in relation to OH&S legislation and standards and NHVR compliance management.
Demonstrated stakeholder management and consultation/coaching skills to identify and influence desired outcomes.
Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
High attention to detail, with excellent time management skills.
