The role
An established, award-winning Brisbane venue is seeking a passionate Head Sommelier to lead a fun, vibrant wine programme focused on small artisan producers and expressive, textural wines. This is a rare chance to take full ownership of a busy, energetic programme — from writing and costing the list to managing financials, mentoring the team, and shaping a creative strategy that feels truly your own.

What you’ll be doing

  • Oversee and develop the wine programme, including list curation and cellar management
  • Mentor and train the team, building a strong culture and high service standards
  • Collaborate with chefs and beverage leaders to create thoughtful pairings
  • Engage guests with warm, knowledgeable, and memorable service
  • Manage ordering, financials, and overall wine programme performance

Who we’re looking for

  • Experience managing a wine programme in a premium or fine dining environment (essential for Head Sommelier)
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and developing others
  • Deep wine knowledge; WSET certification or equivalent highly regarded
  • Confident, polished floor presence with excellent communication skills
  • Full-time availability, including evenings and weekends
