Your role at St John of God Foundation
You will play an integral role in the Foundation's ambitious strategy to substantially increase revenue through implementing a best-practice approach to securing significant philanthropic gifts.
As the Associate Director Philanthropy you will implement the major gifts and gifts in wills strategy for WA to develop strong, ongoing and effective relationships with a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and other philanthropic sources, researching, drafting and presenting proposals, making informed and timely asks and representing the Foundation at internal and external events.
The Position
- Assist the Director of Philanthropy & Campaigns in developing, implementing and delivering a fundraising strategy to maximise philanthropic income.
- Responsible for delivering the WA philanthropy program, including the supervision of the WA major gift fundraising team and chairing of relevant forums.
- Provide leadership and direction to caregivers responsible for the delivery of successful major gift fundraising in WA.
- Produce, implement and review annual operational plans, including annual performance management and review processes, agreed budgets and other operational targets for the WA region for any given performance period.
- Ensure senior leadership and volunteers are effectively briefed for meetings and events. Prepare reports on fundraising activities for internal dissemination.
- Collaborate closely with other caregivers across the Foundation, Hospital and Services to ensure a consistent and well-coordinated Philanthropy program for the Foundation.
- Responsible for meeting individual KPIs, significantly contributing to the Foundation's impact. Works towards achieving agreed fundraising targets for the Philanthropy portfolio (major gifts and gifts in wills).
- Manages a portfolio of philanthropic relationships and potential donors (major donors, trusts and foundations and gifts in wills supporters) through a customised and donor-centric engagement process to cultivate, solicit and steward ongoing philanthropic gifts.
- Responsible for securing major gifts for hospitals and services at the $20,000 to $1m+ gift/donor level and for securing gifts in will.
- Identifies and approaches potential new funders for campaigns and develops a portfolio of existing and potential philanthropic relationships in collaboration with Foundation Services team and external sources.
- Prepares and presents comprehensive reports, project briefs, submissions, proposals, stewardship reports.
- Ensure that donor experience and stewardship is of the highest quality by developing and implementing donor cultivation and stewardship plans in line with Foundation policy.
- Accompanies, guides and coaches caregivers, volunteers, clinicians and executives in high value and strategic cultivation, solicitation and stewardship meetings. Coordinates fundraising or volunteer fundraising committees as relevant.
- Maintains high quality records in the Foundation's CRM.
- Works closely with other Foundation caregivers to plan and execute a series of fundraising, cultivation and stewardship events for major donors, gifts in wills donors and prospective donors.
- Manages professional caregivers, monitoring performance and empowering the team to achieve targets within key areas of responsibility.
You will have 10+ years' experience in in a professional fundraising or development manager role with a strong track record in major gifts, gifts in wills or equivalent experience in sales, partnerships or business development. You will have have demonstrated knowledge of major gift fundraising including portfolio management and the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major, capital campaign, corporate and gifts in wills supporters. You will hold high standards of personal and professional integrity.
To succeed you will have proven success in meeting substantial financial targets and KPIs, including track record of personally securing gift commitments and gifts at the $10,000 to $500,000+ level, and coaching, influencing and negotiation skills to promote a culture of philanthropy among Executive, Board, Hospital and Services CEOs, Clinicians and other senior stakeholders. It is essential you are proficient with computer programs particularly MS Office and have experience using a Donor Management System such as Raiser's Edge, or similar.
This role requires flexibility to work outside of usual business hours as required on events important to the Foundation, as well as intrastate and interstate travel to support the local and national philanthropy function.

- Permanent fulltime position working 76 hours a fortnight
