Our dental practice is currently searching for a professional, compassionate and knowledgeable individuals to fill the position of Dental Nurse/Receptionist. If you have experience in either roles Dental Nursing / Dental Reception), we encourage you to apply, if you don't have experience but are suitable for the role, we are very willing to train you!

About the role

The role will be on Permanent Full time/Part Time position and remuneration will be paid on an hourly basis. The full description of each role will be emailed to you on enquire.

Role of a Dental Assistant:

A dental nurse plays an essential role in supporting the dentist and ensuring a smooth, efficient dental practice. Here are the primary responsibilities and roles of a dental nurse:

1. Assisting the Dentist

Chairside assistance: Prepare and hand instruments to the dentist during procedures.

Patient preparation: Help position the patient comfortably, provide suction, and assist with maintaining a sterile field.

Taking notes: Record patient information, treatment details, and other important data during the procedure.

2. Sterilization and Infection Control

Disinfecting equipment: Clean and sterilize dental tools and equipment after use.

Maintaining a sterile environment: Ensure that all surfaces are properly disinfected before and after treatments.

Managing waste disposal: Properly dispose of medical waste, including used gloves, syringes, and other items.

3. Patient Care and Comfort

Providing reassurance: Help calm nervous or anxious patients and answer questions about procedures.

Post-treatment care: Instruct patients on aftercare, including diet and oral hygiene tips after treatments.

Taking impressions: Help take impressions of patients' teeth for crowns, bridges, or dentures.

4. Administrative Duties

Scheduling appointments: Coordinate patient bookings and manage the dentist’s calendar.

Maintaining patient records: Update patient files, ensuring information is accurate and confidential.

Handling insurance and billing: Assist with processing insurance claims and managing patient payments.

5. X-ray Assistance

Taking dental X-rays: Positioning patients and equipment to take radiographs under the supervision of the dentist.

Processing and reviewing X-rays: Develop and examine the X-rays for abnormalities, helping the dentist diagnose and plan treatment.

6. Inventory and Equipment Management

Stock management: Monitor and restock dental supplies like materials, gloves, and medications.

Equipment maintenance: Ensure dental equipment is functioning properly and arrange for repairs when necessary.

7. Education and Advice

Oral hygiene education: Teach patients proper brushing, flossing, and mouth care routines.

Preventive care: Discuss preventative measures such as fluoride treatments, diet choices, and routine checkups.

In addition to these, a dental nurse needs excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a caring, empathetic attitude to work well with both the dentist and patients.
