About the role

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Early Education Centre Chef/Cook to join our team at Northern Area Community and Youth Services (NACYS) in Davoren Park, South Australia. This is a part-time role (25 hours per week) that will be responsible for preparing nutritious and delicious meals for the children in our care. As the centre chef, you will provide healthy meals to children and collaborate with families and colleagues. This role anticipates your support for a ‘Cooks Kitchen’ element, engaging children in small educational cooking classes, with produce from a volunteer garden.

What you'll be doing

Plan, prepare and cook healthy, well-balanced meals for the children in our care

Ensure all meals meet dietary requirements and cater to any special dietary needs

Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment

Assist in ordering and managing food supplies and inventory

Collaborate with the childcare team to create engaging meal experiences for the children

Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations

What we're looking for

A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery

Experience in a kitchen preparing food for a large number of people/children

The ability to work collaboratively within a team

Up to date knowledge of food regulations and record keeping

Completed or willing to complete Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

A current Working With Children Check

Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management Training or agreement to complete the training

Current First Aid Certificate
