The Role: Crisis Counsellor Permanent Fulltime 76hrs Fortnight

If you're someone who shines in moments that matter, this is your chance to be the calm in someone’s storm. You'll be the first point of contact for people in crisis—whether they walk through the door, pick up the phone, or come referred from other services—and you’ll offer immediate support, practical assistance, and heartfelt care.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Be the welcoming face and listening ear for individuals in crisis.
• Provide swift intake assessments and tailored support solutions.
• Offer short-term interventions and practical help (hello, emergency food and financial relief!).
• Connect people to the right long-term supports through thoughtful referrals.
• Record and reflect: keep high-quality notes and contribute to a meaningful client journey.
• Deliver CBT sessions (up to three) where appropriate.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

• A relevant degree or qualification in counselling (or equivalent experience that shows you’ve got the goods).
• Confidence in supporting folks through crisis—including those having thoughts of suicide.
• Empathy, insight, and a clear framework for your counselling approach.
• A current Working with Children Blue Card and open driver’s licence.
• Excellent communication skills—both spoken and written.
• A belief in equity, ethical practice, and wellbeing at work.
• A big heart and a team-player attitude.
